1. What made you apply for a summer job at Vaasan Sähkö?

– When I saw the job ad, the first thing that caught my interest was that Vaasan Sähkö operates in the energy sector. I was also drawn to Vaasan Sähkö’s bold brand, and I got the feeling that it could be a great place to work. Customer-focused thinking is something I really care about, and I thought this role would give me a chance to put that into practice.

The job interview left me with a really warm impression, and that feeling has stayed with me throughout the summer. My colleagues have been wonderful, and I’ve been trusted with my work from day one.

2. What have your main responsibilities been, and what have you learned?

– Vaasan Sähkö sponsors and organizes a wide range of events in the Vaasa region and takes part in many others. My main responsibility has therefore been coordinating our summer events together with our partners. Organizing events has taught me a lot about time management, prioritizing, and problem-solving. It’s been really interesting to see how everything works behind the scenes, both before and during an event!

Things rarely go entirely according to plan at events, and you can’t always prepare for everything. When something unexpected happens, the most important thing is to come up with a solution and have the confidence to act on it. You can’t get stuck, because that won’t get you anywhere.

– I’ve enjoyed being able to take a hands-on approach to my work. It’s an amazing feeling when the event day finally arrives and the tents and other elements start taking shape at the venue.

3. What was the highlight of your summer job?

– Overall, I’ve especially enjoyed the feeling of being at events and interacting with people. It makes me happy to be able to create a positive atmosphere for others.

It’s also been inspiring to see how much you can achieve by working together. When you organize an event, everyone has their own part to play, whether big or small. When everyone does their job, it all comes together as an event where people can enjoy themselves and have memorable experiences!

– The highlight of my summer dawned in August at Vaasa’s Night of the Arts, where we organized a silent disco at the Vaasan Sähkö tent. I’ve called this project my “summer baby” because it was something I got to take ownership of from start to finish. Our silent disco turned out to be a real hit, and the dance-filled evening left me with some wonderful memories!
