work in practice?
Real-time energy consumption tracking
By adding a Power Hub device (€39.90) to the app, you can monitor your home’s energy consumption in real time. Most apps show delayed consumption data, but with Power Hub, you’ll see your consumption in real time. This lets you understand where your electricity goes and helps you optimize consumption habits and save money.
Smart EV charging
With the app, you can easily automate electric vehicle charging to the cheapest spot prices. Just set the desired charging window and target battery level, and charging will automatically start when most affordable. You no longer need to track spot prices manually – the app does it for you.

With Power Hub, you can:

Who is Smart Home for?
Smart Home is best suited for detached and terraced house customers, as Power Hub installation requires access to your electricity cabinet and a Wi-Fi connection that reaches the meter.
Customers with a spot price contract or our Influencer contract benefit the most, as they can fully take advantage of low spot prices.
How does Power Hub work?
Power Hub is installed in your electricity meter and it requires:
- an electricity meter with a HAN port
- a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi connection that reaches the meter
- an electricity contract with Vaasan Sähkö
Note! Contact your local grid company to activate the HAN port. If your meter doesn’t have a HAN port, ask your grid company about the possibility of upgrading your meter.
Which car and charger brands are compatible with Vaasan Sähkö Smart Home?
Charging of an electric vehicle works by connecting either your car or your charger to the Smart Home app.
Supported car brands currently include: Audi, Cupra, Hyundai, Kia, Mg, Skoda, Tesla and Volkswagen. The number of compatible car brands is increased regularly.
Supported chargers: Charge Amps, Garo, Easee and Zaptec. The list of compatible EV brands and chargers is also updated in the app.
To control your car’s charging through the charging station, the car brand must also be among the supported ones.
Which electricity contract works best with Smart Home?
Customers with a spot price or Influencer contract benefit the most. These allow you to optimize energy usage based on real-time prices and save on your electricity bill.
Can the Smart Home app be used without the Power Hub device?
Yes, it can! However, certain functions — such as real-time electricity consumption monitoring — do require the Power Hub device.
Is there a monthly fee for Smart Home?
No. The Vaasan Sähkö Smart Home app is free for Vaasan Sähkö electricity customers.
Real-time tracking does require a one-time purchase of the Power Hub device (€39.90). Other features, like EV charging optimization, work without it.
What happens to Smart Home if I switch electricity providers?
Smart Home is a customer benefit. If you switch providers, you will lose access to the app after your contract ends. The Power Hub device remains yours, but real-time monitoring will no longer work. If you return to Vaasan Sähkö in the future, the app will resume working with your device.
