Real-time energy consumption tracking
By adding a Power Hub device to the app (€34.90), you can monitor your home’s energy use in real time with the Vaasan Sähkö Smart Home app. Most apps show delayed consumption data, but with Power Hub, you’ll see your usage live. This lets you understand where your electricity goes and helps you optimize consumption habits and save money.
Smart EV charging
With the app, you can easily automate EV charging during the cheapest spot price hours. Just set the desired charging window and target battery level – charging will automatically start when electricity is most affordable. You no longer need to track spot prices manually – the app does it for you.

Who is Smart Home for?
Smart Home is best suited for detached and terraced house customers, as Power Hub installation requires access to your electricity cabinet and a Wi-Fi connection that reaches the meter.
Customers with a spot price contract or our Influencer contract benefit the most, as they can fully take advantage of low spot prices.
How does PowerHub work?
PowerHub is installed in your electricity meter and it requires:
- an electricity meter with a HAN port
- a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi connection that reaches the meter
- an electricity contract with Vaasan Sähkö

Which devices are compatible with Vaasan Sähkö Smart Home?
EV charging works by connecting either your car or your charger to the Smart Home app.
Supported car brands include Kia, Skoda, Tesla, Hyundai, and Volkswagen. Supported chargers include Charge Amps, Garo, and Easee. See the full list of supported devices in the app.
Which electricity contract works best with Smart Home?
Customers with a spot price or Influencer contract benefit the most. These allow you to optimize energy usage based on real-time prices and save on your electricity bill.
Can the Smart Home app be used without the Power Hub device?
Yes, it can! However, certain functions — such as real-time electricity consumption monitoring — do require the Power Hub device.
Is there a monthly fee for Smart Home?
No. The Vaasan Sähkö Smart Home app is free for Vaasan Sähkö electricity customers.
Real-time tracking does require a one-time purchase of the Power Hub device (€34.90). Other features, like EV charging optimization, work without it.
What happens to Smart Home if I switch electricity providers?
Smart Home is a customer benefit. If you switch providers, you will lose access to the app after your contract ends. The Power Hub device remains yours, but real-time monitoring will no longer work. If you return to Vaasan Sähkö in the future, the app will resume working with your device.
Questions about the use of a Smart Home
How is the Smart Home equipment installed?
Power Hub is connected to your electricity meter. Detailed installation instructions are available here.
To set up EV charging, go to Settings → Connections in the app and follow the instructions.
How do I activate the Smart Home app?
Getting started is easy:
- Download the app from the App Store or Google Play.
- Log in with your online banking credentials.
- If you have a Power Hub, follow the instructions in the package to connect it.
- Add your EV if you have one (Settings → Connections).
- Done!
Who can log in to the Smart Home app?
Anyone who has an electricity sales contract with Vaasan Sähkö can log in to the Smart Home app. A contract partner can also log in.
My spouse is not listed as a contract partner on our electricity agreement – can they still use the Smart Home app?
Yes. Family members can be invited to join the app.
What should I do if the Wi-Fi signal is too weak at my electricity meter?
If the Wi-Fi signal to the Power Hub is weak, you can use a Wi-Fi extender to improve the coverage. Alternatively, you can try moving the router or access point closer to the electricity meter.
Note that a mobile phone often has a stronger antenna than the Power Hub and may show a stronger signal than what the Power Hub actually receives. Therefore, a strong signal on your phone does not guarantee sufficient Wi-Fi coverage for the Power Hub.
Why is it recommended to connect the electric car charger to the Smart Home system?
Without a connected electric car charger, the Smart Home system typically receives updated charging status from the car about every 15 minutes. Communication is faster when the electric car charger is connected to the service.
This enables more accurate and efficient charging planning, as charging can be started and paused with greater precision. The result is a smarter and more optimized charging process.
My electric car is not charging at a public charging station – what should I do?
If you want to charge your car regardless of electricity prices, disable the smart charging feature in the app.
Note that if the car’s charger is connected to the Smart Home system, charging through the smart charging function is only possible via the connected charger. This frees you from having to manually disable smart charging — for example, when using a fast charger while traveling.
