Vaasan Sähkö Smart Home – real-time monitoring and savings
Vaasan Sähkö’s new Smart Home service is now available! Our latest customer benefit gives you the opportunity to use electricity in a smart way and will bring savings on your electricity bill.
As a customer of Vaasan Sähkö, you can use the Smart Home control features free of charge through the Vaasan Sähkö Smart Home app. By adding a Power Hub device to the service, you can also track your home’s energy consumption in real time. With the Vaasan Sähkö Smart Home app and Power Hub device, you can track your electricity consumption live and take advantage of fluctuations in spot electricity prices even more effectively.
Save money with smarter electricity usage
The Vaasan Sähkö Smart Home app allows you to follow your home’s electricity consumption, view spot prices, and automate your electric car charging for the most affordable hours.
The greatest benefit comes when you connect the separate Power Hub device (price €34.90) to the app, enabling real-time consumption tracking – unlike many other electricity apps where data updates with a delay.
“Vaasan Sähkö Smart Home offers customers a much-requested HEMS platform (Home Energy Management System) for energy monitoring and optimization. Customers can manage and track their electricity consumption in all properties where they have a contract with Vaasan Sähkö,” says Jakob Frants, Vaasan Sähkö’s Sales Manager.
Real-time monitoring increases understanding of home energy use
With the Power Hub device, you can monitor your home’s energy consumption live. The app gives you a clear view of exactly how and when electricity is used in your home, helping you optimize usage – and save money.

Automated savings – without compromising on comfort
As a Vaasan Sähkö customer, you have free access to Smart Home’s control features. The ability to schedule electric car charging and, in the future, control home heating or solar panel usage helps save energy and money in everyday life. You can enjoy peace of mind as your Smart Home app takes care of optimization for you.
“Vaasan Sähkö Smart Home can help you save up to 50% on electricity costs for EV charging and up to 20% on electricity costs with the upcoming heating optimization feature,” Frants explains.
By linking your EV to the Smart Home app, you can automate charging to take place during the cheapest spot price hours. Simply set your preferred charging time and level in the app – and it handles the rest automatically, so you don’t have to monitor prices yourself.
Who is Smart Home for?
Smart Home is best suited for customers in detached or terraced houses, as installing the Power Hub requires access to the electrical cabinet and a WiFi connection that reaches it. However, EV charging automation also works without the Power Hub.
The greatest benefits are for customers with an Exchange Electricity or Influencer contract, as these allow you to take full advantage of lower spot prices.
“Smart Home is ideal for anyone interested in their electricity usage and costs. You can connect the devices you need and decide for yourself which tasks you want Smart Home to handle for you,” Frants describes.
“In addition, the service is constantly evolving, with new features and more compatible devices being added. You can start small by downloading the free app from the app store and then build your own Smart Home system from there,” Frants adds.
The future of Smart Home – a service that keeps evolving
Smart Home is continuously being developed. The goal is that in the future, home heating, solar power production, and other home energy functions can all be optimized through the same app. The first new features are planned for release at the end of 2025.
“Step by step, we’re moving towards a comprehensive home energy management system where the most energy-intensive devices – such as electric vehicles and heating – are optimized automatically for the customer. The system considers spot prices, utilizes any self-produced energy and home batteries, and monitors the customer’s main fuses with load balancing functionality,” Frants says.
